Today is a momentous day. October 10, 2010. 10-10-10. I hear that it is THE DAY to get married. I bet they will try to have their 'I Dos' at 10:00 or 10:10.
Seventeen years ago I was someplace memorable. On October 9th, Tracy went into labor, I was her coach. I fetched ice chips, she moaned and we laughed. All Night Long. To make a long story short and to get to the point, Tracy was taken down for a Cesarean. And at 10:10 AM on 10/10, her son was born. At the time we (meaning I, I don't know about anyone else for sure) were just thrilled about the coincidence of the number ten.
Farthest from my mind was even the inkling of 2010 causing another round of, 'Wow! look at all those 10's'. Even though it was the 1990's the year 2000 seemed so far away, let alone 2010. Back then, thinking about the 21st century was hard. After all, I would be in my 40's, nearly dead!!!
Now, here it is. 10-10-10 and thinking about 2030. I don't think I will be on death's door. But, hopefully, I will be on Medicare's doorstep.
